From self-image problems to over-dependence on others, Dyer gives you the tools you need to break free from negative thinking and enjoy life to the fullest. He argues that we should try instead to pull our own strings by taking control of our lives. Wisdom of the Ages Author : Wayne W. Footprints, that perhaps another, Sailing o'er life's solemn main, A forlorn and shipwrecked brother, Seeing, shall take heart again.
Wayne W. Dyer poses the question: "What do our ancestral scholars, whom we consider the wisest and most spiritually advanced, have to say to us today? In succinct original essays, Dyer sets out to explain the meaning and context of each piece of wisdom, and, most important, to explain how we can actively apply these teachings to our modern lives.
From sixty ancestral masters--Buddha, Michelangelo, Rumi, Whitman, Jesus, Emily Dickinson, and Emerson, among others--here are treasured passages on a variety of subjects, including solitude, time, and passion. Among the contributions are words on inspiration from Pantanjali c. Francis of Assisi; and thoughts about the importance of action written by Mother Teresa. The voices collected here cut across a wide range of historical eras and cultures, yet they communicate universal truths about the human experience.
Wisdom of the Ages provides us with a marvelous dual opportunity: to receive guidance from our great ancestors and to recognize our own potential for greatness. Being in Balance Author : Wayne W.
Dyer shows you how to restore balance in your life by offering nine principles for realigning your thoughts so that they correspond to your highest desires. Imagine a balance scale with one end weighted down to the ground, and the other end - featuring the objects of your desires - sticking up precariously in the air.
This scale is a measurement of your thoughts. To restore the same balance that characterizes everything in our universe, you have to take up the weighty thoughts so that they match up to your desires.
The seasons reflect the overall harmony of life. For example, winter passes and the blossoms emerge. This is balanced by a need to have the trees rest, so autumn arrives on time and helps the trees ready themselves for another period of repose. This book is dedicated to the idea that we're a vital component of this creative process and have within ourselves the wherewithal to create all that we want if we recognize and revise out-of-balance thoughts.
After spending two years working the 12 Steps, I began to search for material that would help keep me well. I could not find anything that suited my purposes, so I began to write down issues that I needed to be aware of. Your wishes—all of them—can indeed be fulfilled. By using your imagination and practicing the art of assuming the feeling of your wishes being fulfilled, and steadfastly refusing to allow any evidence of the outer world to distract you from your intentions, you will discover that you, by virtue of your spiritual awareness, possess the ability to become the person you were destined to be.
This book will help you See—with a capital S—that you are Divine, and that you already possess an inner, invisible higher self that can and will guide you toward a mastery of the art of manifestation.
You can attain this mastery through deliberate conscious control of your imagination! Dyer, presents an original vision of the possibilities of personal development and achievement of goals. It establishes that humans have been created as units that contain all the potentialities necessary to live with fulfillment and happiness. However, not all people live happily. This happens because since we are born, by external influences, we form in our personality "erroneous zones" that block us and impede our personal fulfillment.
Where are they, what do they mean, where do they take us and how can we overcome those erroneous zones that block us? That is the theme of this book, which shows you the path to happiness, a path based on responsibility and commitment to oneself.
In this view, an attitude that combines hard work with an indefatigable drive toward excellence is the way to succeed. However, intention is viewed very differently in this book. Dyer has researched intention as a force in the universe that allows the act of creation to take place. This book explores intention-not as something you do-but as an energy you're a part of.
We're all intended here through the invisible power of intention. This is the first book to look at intention as a field of energy you can access to begin co-creating your life! Part I deals with the principles of intention, offering true stories and examples showing how to make the connection.
Dyer identifies the attributes of the all-creating universal mind of intention as creative, kind, loving, beautiful, expanding, endlessly abundant, and receptive, explaining the importance of emulating this source of creativity. In Part II, Dr. Dyer offers an intention guide with specific ways to apply the co-creating principles in daily life.
Part III is an exhilarating description of Dr. Dyer's vision of an individual connected at all times to the universal mind of intention. Tradepaper edition of spiritual teachings from international best-selling author and beloved inspirational speaker Dr.

It changed her life and those around her. Well, first this, the book tells you how to do what you want and not be manipulated by others. If you don't want to do something, don't. This is how it worked out for her and for us kids: My brothers and sisters came to visit her one year, and we were sitting at the dinner table.
All the sudden we noticed that her macaroni salad wasn't on the table. Her salad w I read this in the late 90s, and so did my mother. Her salad was the best in the world, but you could never copy her recipe because there were no measurements.
I have tried. But what she said changed things forever, thanks to Wayne Dyer, the destroyer of family gatherings. It was this: "I didn't make any because I didn't feel like it.
If she ever made macaroni on subsequent visits, I don't recall. Maybe my failure on this recipe is mainly because I use mayonnaise and she used Miracle Whip. Here is her recipe. Next day you may need to add more Miracle Whip as the noodles soak up the dressing and can be dry. View 2 comments. Feb 11, Lou Lawton rated it it was ok. I didn't actually finish this book. The beginning was excellent and getting out of that victim mind was helpful.
However, then it started to present tools that at first seemed helpful, but I felt were victimising others and I developed a lot of anger for other people. I realised that this book wasn't leading me in the direction I wanted. This author was highly recommended to me by my cousin Michelle. I have heard of him before and have been wanting to read his work for awhile now. I think now was the right time. Any earlier and I may not have gotten through it. I did not realize that the book concentrates on helping people who victimize themselves.
I don't see myself in this light, as a victim. But I read it anyway. Nothing is good or bad, it just is.. All great stuff. I gave three stars because I don't really see eye to eye with Dyer on a few aspects. Especially his question quiz at the end. I felt there could have been three possibilities not just two.. You are not a victim if you choose to allow the other person to "victimize you.
It's called turning the other cheek. Just because I tip a waiter for bad service and don't complain about mediocre food, does not make me a victim. It makes me a person who is not going to go back to that restaurant. I chose not to make a fuss, and deemed this battle not worth fighting.
If I do not allow this to upset me how can I be a victim? Perhaps I am incorrect. Maybe in Dyer's terms I am a victim.. I don't feel like one, and that's what matters. I think many would like this book and find it enlightening. Jan 23, Sue rated it really liked it Shelves: personal-growth. For example, I referred to it when I my electrician lost his temper with me. I was able to go back and talk with him in ways that made me feel empowered, authentic, and effective. This book is excellent.
I wish I had read it in high school. It would have helped me in so many situation where I was clueless in dealing with people who treat me poorly.
Now I 'Pulling Your Own Strings' has been really helpful for me to detach from other people's opinions of me and be able to act in ways I believe in. Now I have a clue! Oct 04, Tracy rated it it was ok Shelves: self-help. This book started off so well and then devolved into a diatribe about avoiding clerks and always going straight to management.
Having been a clerk, Wayne Dyer obviously had an axe to grind. Being assertive is not enough. I expected it to be a lot of psychobabble pablum of little value. It was so much worse than that. It hit me wrong twice within the first few pages. First, it made the argument that since we are mo Ellis added that ' or more people have voluntarily told me While the ideas were revolutionary back in when it was first published.
Today this kind of ideas have been over exploited and is difficult to judge based on who published his book first, who has the better system or who goes into more detail. The true thing is that no matter who you like or how many self-help books you read. Is until you give it a try and start living by these ideas that you'll notice how you are actually and truly able to accomplish whatever you want. Your Erroneous Zones is simply one of the greatest self-help books ever written. For people just beginning to read self-help or spiritual books, this book is a great place to start.
It is nearly imperative that if one reads any book by Dr. Wayne Dyer that they start with this book. By reading his books in order of copyright, the amazing shift in his philosophy and interests over the years can be witnessed. Dyer has written so many books, but important books to follow with this one are 'Pulli I read it when I was still a teen and then I have read it again a few years ago. The best book of its kind. All those new cheesy, overly simplistic authors who are proclaming they 'know how to find happiness and will take you there'and are now at Harvard delivering subjects on 'Happiness', should probably learn from Dyer.
That said, Dyer's writing style has changed and I don't enjoy his actual work as much as I enjoyed his early work This book is O. It attempts to correct and manage a culture of excuses. It is a book about the self - about how the individual can activate thoughts and agency to transform their life. The problem is that the book is a context-free zone.
In other words, no matter what an individual may experience, it can be changed by thinking differently about it. Unfortunately, this is an inaccurate assumption. Certainly, there are solid elements of self empowerment in this book. But the understanding of powe I like this book. I don't agree with all of it but I like it. Good, positive message. Since so many of us are looking for inspiration to start a new year, I wanted to start reviewing all the self-books I ever read because I haven't reviewed any :!
And I had to start with this book, which was the book that got me reading self-help literature.
